Holiday cookie exchanges are typically thought of as a pre-Christmas festivity to mix up your key cookie treats with your friends so a better mix of cookies is on hand for your friends and family to enjoy during holiday visits. They are a lot of fun this way, but some of the best exchanges I have attended are snuggled between the down time between the Christmas holiday and the Valentine's Day holiday.
Since we located to a smaller town in the upper midwest without the zooming around town that took place in Wisconsin, the deep winter days after the holiday buzz has faded but the hope of spring isn't immediately present have become a bit of a chore. They aren't a bummer, how could any day be that, really? They are juts long and it always seems like I'm waiting, waiting, waiting for the freedom of movement. to be able to walk outside at a full pace versus pick, pick, pick stepping around ice and snow mounds.
