"When betrayal threatens her future, how will she find happiness again?"Personally, when I saw the word betrayal, I thought it would be your average everyday Christian fiction betrayal – my sister stole my boyfriend, my best friend stole my idea and ruined my future career or my parent/guardian squandered a fortune that was meant to be mine.
This book takes betrayal to a whole new and serious level. It all starts when Luellen O’Connell’s husband leaves her after they have been married for only one month…if you are more savvy than me (not too difficult) you may be able to figure out the plot from that comment, but I didn’t.
Needless to say, after Luellen is left, she doesn’t sit around moping. Luellen snaps into action and continues working toward a goal she had set her sights on before marriage – attending teacher’s training at a college a day’s train ride away from her home. As she attends school, a variety of new challenges pop up as well as a decidedly understanding love interest who manages to provide an engaging subplot to the book. (As I’ve mentioned previously in reviews, I love it when the male characters offer a bit more to the storyline than their gender.)
I really enjoyed The Dawn of a Dream – I have a soft spot in my heart for stories featuring teachers and those studying to become teachers. The Little House on the Prairie Books, the Anne of Green Gables series and on and on – these books created my soft spot and this book nurtured it.
Highly recommended.
