Old Navy Summer Dresses - My Favorite Pick

I recently had the opportunity to pick up an Old Navy dress through a CrowdTap promotion sponsored by the Old Navy Style Council. I used my coupon to pick up a cute little jersey dress.

I choose the garment pictured at left in a tealish turquoise shade because (don't laugh) it kind of reminded me of the Issa dress Kate Middleton wore when her and Prince William (or should I say the Duke of Cambridge) wore when they held the news conference announcing their engagement. Of course, her dress was obviously a lot more fancy, not made of jersey, and a full long-sleeve garment but this jersey was still a good casual dress that had the same basic features of a nipped in waist with an upperbody crossover effect.

The jersey is cool and comfy, though I'm not sure how cool it would have been had a not went up to a large size instead of the medium to compensate for the cling of the fabric. Since I am a shorter woman, the length of the dress is just right at knee length. Like most 3/4 length
sleeves end up on me, this dress does hit at more of a 7/8 sleeve length level. If I would have stuck with the medium, this would not have been the case quite so much based on the fit of the upper body holding the sleeves a bit snugger at the shoulder, but this is a scenario I'm used to as a pear shape who likes dresses. Since I spend a good bit of time cooler than the general populace, I always appreciate extra arm coverage until the heat of summer when I would go with a more standard sundress cut.

The upper body is a bit low-cut for me, so I wear a black bamboo camisole with a square neckline underneath. The contrast of black with teal has always been a favorite look of mine, and this dress fits that too a "T." The black and teal combo also allows for accessorization through the incorporation of a purse, earrings or necklaces in almost any other bold color. I'm currently on a yellow kick.

I looked the dress up online and see that the black and grey dresses are marked down at OldNavy.com too. I really like the black dress and may end up with that one for an additional fall look, especially if the price goes down once more.

What is your favorite summer dress look?
