1920's

I appreciate the guest post, Lindsay Valdez

I logged onto directtv.com and upgraded our television package so that my husband and I could start watching this new HBO show that is all the rage. The show is called “Boardwalk Empire”. It started last season and my sister insisted that we started watching it. She just knew that I would absolutely love it. She was right. It is one of the coolest shows that I have started watching in a long time. It is directed by Martin Scorcese and produced by Mark Whalberg. The show is a drama that is set in Atlantic City in its hay day, the days of prohibition and political corruption. I read that a lot of the things on the show are loosely truly based. All of the sets are definitely historically accurate. The costuming is incredible. Everything is completely period accurate. Another thing that is interesting to me about the show is the many European immigrants that still have accents from their country of origin. I read that in the 1920’s that immigrants usually carried their accents and that it wasn’t until the 1940’s that the “American” accent really came a long.
