In terms of content, I have two perspectives to share my own and a view from the target audience of the book, ages 12-19.
My view:
I had my own version of a teen Bible that my Mom purchased for me when I was 15. I actually still regularly use this Bible when studying because I love the thought that goes into the supplemental material in a teen Bible. The God Girl Bible has really great supplemental material and reading aids (from Hayley DiMarco). There are several Bible reading plans featured in the back as well as an index featuring topics relevant to teen girls such as gossip.
Each Bible book starts with a focus on special words and definitions for the following content. The mini-devotionals featured within the chapters are tightly written, relevant and solid devotionals.
Other view (relayed via telephony):
My nieces guardians appreciated that none of the content seemed too advanced for the girls as they are at the lower end of the recommended age spectrum. The fun colors featured inside were appreciated as were the "cool" phrasings used in the book (I got a kick out of the intro referring to getting the Bible "in your hot little hands.") That was eyebrow wiggle worthy from a teen's perspective (almost in a "I think that was funny, but it might not be best for me to say that sort of way"). The God's Word translation was commented on (but not by name) as being easier to read than the traditional KJV used in many of the Assembly of God services.
Unfortunately, I do not yet have a picture of a custom decorated cover to share with you (my nieces are kind of far away most days!). As soon as I do, I will upload it to let you see a design!
Final Thought:
Honestly, I'm probably going to end up picking up another copy of the God Girl Bible for myself to use for easy reading. I don't need the customizable cover, so I will probably grab one of the earlier duravella releases from this year (I like the purple one!).
The God Girl Bible is available as of September 2011 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.
Disclosure: I received a review copy of this volume that I passed on to my nieces. This do not influence the opinion of any of us in any way.
